Company Background
Classic beauty and old-world charm inspire every authentic, handcrafted piece of Extasia jewelry. Each cameo and hand-pressed glass intaglio created uses time-honored techniques and molds that predate WWII. Lyrical and meticulously detailed, all original designs are inspired by figurative, classical art.
The word cameo specifically describes a relief image raised higher than its background and carved from one material. In contrast, if the artist carves down into the stone to hollow out a recessed image, the resulting work is called an "intaglio."
Craftsmanship
Extasia jewelry is 100% hand-made. Each cameo is hand-carved by artisans from Torre del Grecco, Italy, the small seaside town where the art of cameo was invented. Intaglios are made by hand in a small Bavarian village using original steel molds and traditional techniques developed in the 1800's. Stones and cameos are imported only from Europe to ensure authenticity and high quality. All designs are conceptualized and hand-made here in the United States.
