Designer Lois Hill has traveled the world in her quest to uncover lost and ancient jewelry making techniques that span across continents and cultures. Fusing and combining these incredible lost arts in very non-traditional ways, she creates classic, contemporary, sterling silver jewelry that is rooted in history yet has a modern flair.

Craftsmanship
Lois Hill's signature style combines 3 different, entirely unrelated techniques, beginning with hand carving using hammer and chisel, a most primitive technique dating back to the Stone Age. She then combines the Etruscan technique of granulation, which is a method of applying tiny beads of metal onto a smooth surface. Lois Hill also employs the ancient art of metal piercing. Using a set of handmade tools, patterns are cut out through the silver, creating an elaborate contrast of negative and positive. It is this incredible juxtaposition of styles that yields such a wonderfully textural and extraordinary example of wearable, modern art.
